June 20, 2015 Meeting

we were a small but vibrant group last night, enjoying white fish and hallah on the back patio, then a hearty meal of brisket, kugle, veggies, and other assorted yummies for dinner. it was topped off by an amazing bobka cake by our carol. a stellar spread for sure

so looks like both books got a four. those who read the graphic novel appreciated the bold and humorous look at the often sad and complicated end-of-life stage of our parents. everyone appreciated the writing craftsmanship of stegner and the fully developed characters he created. while some thought it tedious in parts, others didn't want it to end. the votes are in for our next books...the alchemist by paul coelho and the rosie project by graeme simsion. our next meeting is on august 1. lonnie is next host. helene is next book picker.
