March 28, 2015 Meeting
another wonderful evening...and we managed to pull off nigerian food! everything was really delicious.
a lot of discussion about americanah, partly because everyone read it, but mainly because of its intriguing look at nigerian vs. abroad life, race, class, and, gender, black hair, and intimacy. we gave it 4 stars. fewer folks read lila, but still elicited some strong viewpoints...it got 3 stars. mary, carol, julie...if you want to weight in on these books with your own vote, let me know, before i log in the rating. next books, selected by hilarie, are one summer: america 1927 by bill bryson and angle of repose by wallace stegner.
